Antonio
Ibancovichi
I was born in Mexico City on October 5, 1932, just a block away from the Zócalo and directly behind the National Palace. I am the son of a military physician from the state of Tabasco and a homemaker from the city of Puebla.
During my childhood, I traveled extensively, living in ten different Mexican states until my family finally settled in the city of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, when I was twelve years old.
I began my formal education at the Holding Institute in Laredo and completed three years at the high school in Eagle Pass, both located in Texas, USA.
At the age of twenty-two—and against my parents' wishes—I enrolled in the renowned Academy of San Carlos (later known as the Faculty of Arts and Design at UNAM), where I formally launched my career as a visual artist.
I currently reside in the city of Xalapa, Veracruz, where I continue to practice my passion and craft. I leave to your consideration this small selection of my artistic heritage, which to date comprises more than 9,000 works including drawings, paintings, and various mixed media.
